Helping people in Bucks find a way forward
Who we are and what we do
We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating. As a registered charity dedicated to supporting people in Bucks, Citizens Advice Bucks believes no one should have to face these problems without free, good quality, confidential and independent advice.
That’s why we’re here: to give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.
But don’t just take our word for it, watch clients Sharon and Kelvin talk about the support they received and the difference it made.
Our Vision
To build a better Bucks. We know our services can transform our clients’ lives – practically, financially and emotionally.
Our Mission
Helping those who need us most. Focusing on prevention and empowerment to help our clients resolve as many issues as we can.
We make a difference
No one else sees so many people with so many different kinds of problems, and that gives our charity an insight into the challenges people are facing. As a trusted charity, we help thousands of people in Bucks each year. In 2022/23 this included 12,545 unique clients with 36,269 issues.
People contact us about everything from benefits to hate crime, but our core areas of advice are benefits, housing, debt, employment, immigration (Level 1), family, and consumer issues. Without exception, the top four issues people talk to us about are:
- Benefits (42%)
- Debt (13%)
- Housing (10%)
- Employment (7%)
We speak up for our clients
With the right evidence, we can show big organisations – from companies right up to the government – how they can make things better for people. That’s what we really care about, we are here to make things easier for our community.
We see how problems can be linked. We will try to help with the underlying cause of problems and try to make sure they don’t get worse. In doing so we save the government and public services a huge amount of money each year. Our clients often also find themselves better off for getting in touch with us.
Our History
Citizens Advice Bucks was established in April 2021 following the merger of three former Citizens Advice bodies. We provide free, independent and impartial advice to people living in High Wycombe, Aylesbury Vale, and the Chilterns.
Our team of 55 staff and c.100 volunteers are dedicated to helping people in Bucks and their support can be accessed via our integrated multi-channel advice, comprising of live sessions in our advice clinic, webchat, social media, website, outreach and in person advice services. Our advisers are trained to help clients tell us in full their circumstances, provide the right advice and give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to solve the problems they are facing.
“Without your help I’m pretty certain I would not be here to do this survey. The help and support I received has changed my life. I cant thank CA Bucks enough. I’m truly grateful and thankful that you helped me through a terrible time in my life.” (Anonymous)
