Community Fridges
Another option available if you are struggling for food is to use a Community Fridge. These are places that give out food collected from shops/businesses that are close to or just reached their best before date (not use by dates). They are still good to eat but shops can’t sell them so to stop them going to landfill the food goes to the fridges- saving good food from being wasted!
Below are a list of the community fridges available in Bucks and their opening times. You can also find out more information about these on our Service Search.
- Chesham- Next to the Broadway Baptist Church, HP6 1EG. Wednesday 10am-12pm, Saturday 10am- 12pm.
- High Wycombe- Oakridge Baptist Church, HP11 2PH. Monday 9.30am- 2.30pm, Wednesdays 9.30am- 2.30pm.
- Aylesbury- Vineyard Storehouse, Gatehouse Close, HP19 8DN. Tues 10-12 for anyone to drop in, Sat 10-12 for referrals
- Chalfont St Giles- All Together Community Fridge, Blizard’s Yard Car Park, HP8 4QA. Wednesdays 10am-12pm, Saturdays 10.00am- 12pm.
- Thame Community Larder- Christchurch Thame, OX9 2DN. Thursdays 2.30pm- 5pm
- Winslow St Laurence Food Cupboard, Wednesdays 9.30am- 10.30am
There are also a couple of apps you can download which may help you get food for free or cheap local to you. These apps are called Too Good To Go and Olio.
